Alumnus Christian Van Horn makes Metropolitan Opera debut

van-horn-christian-operaChristian Van Horn '02 MM, '03AD will make his Metropolitan Opera debut next season in a new production of Falstaff, conducted by James Levine, in December 2014. The performance will be a part of the Met's HD broadcast series. After Falstaff, Mr. Van Horn will continue at the Met with a run of La Bohème.

American bass-baritone Christian Van Horn has appeared in many of the world's most prestigious opera houses, including the San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Bayerische Staatsoper, Salzburg Festial, and Los Angeles Opera. In October, his recording of the title role in Le nozze di Figaro will be released on disc by Sony Classical.

Most recently, Mr. Van Horn returned to San Francisco to perform as the four Villains in Les Contes d'Hoffmann. The 2013–14 season will find him singing Colline in a Toronto production of La Bohème, followed by Pistola in Falstaff at the Met and then as Colline again in Bohème at the Met.
