Alumnus Benjamin Firer joins faculty of Juniata College

firer_benjaminBenjamin Firer '12MM has been appointed Orchestra Conductor and Adjunct Instructor of Low Brass Instruments at Juniata College. The liberal arts college is located in Huntingdon, Penn.

An advocate of new music, Benjamin Firer has premiered works for both brass quintet and trombone with electronics. Mr. Firer has attended summer music festivals at Chautauqua, Orford, Eastern, Hot Springs and The Bar Harbor Brass Week.  In the spring of 2010 he was awarded the State University of New York Thayer Fellowship for his performance conducting the Aries Chamber Ensemble.

In 2012, Mr. Firer received his Master of Music degree from Yale University, where he studied under the tutelage of Scott Hartman.  At Yale, he performed extensively with the Yale Philharmonia, Symphony, Jazz Ensemble, and the Yale Trombone Quartet.  His recent engagements included performances at the National Orchestral Institute in College Park, Maryland and the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival.
