Musicians studying at the Yale School of Music perform frequently: in recitals, chamber ensembles, opera, and orchestral performances. Most of these events are free and open to the public, so we hope to see you often!
There are over one hundred student recitals every year, and all these performances are free and open to the public. Every instrument is featured, from winds and brass to strings and piano, from percussion to organ to voice. These young musicians perform favorites of the classical repertory, early music, contemporary works, and much more.
All students also play in chamber ensembles, which audiences can hear in Lunchtime Chamber Music, Guitar Chamber Music, and other concerts. Favorite ensembles include the Yale Cellos and the Yale Percussion Group. Yale Opera offers three productions each year, and the Philharmonia Orchestra of Yale performs several times a year.
Choral groups include the Yale Camerata and Yale Schola Cantorum, both organized by the Institute of Sacred Music, and the Yale Choral Artists, presented by the School of Music and the Yale Glee Club.
Come hear performances on your favorite instruments or on unfamiliar ones, performed by musicians on the cusp of their professional careers.
