Yale Cellos

Formed in 1983, the Grammy-nominated ensemble Yale Cellos has earned international renown for its successful recordings, rich sound, virtuosity, and many additions to the cello ensemble literature. In addition to its annual concerts at Yale, the ensemble has performed twice at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall, presenting premieres of works by Ezra Laderman, Dave Brubeck, and Christopher Rouse.

The Yale Cellos under the direction of Aldo Parisot can be heard on the recording Cellists from Yale issued in Brazil by Phonodisc and The Yale Cellos Play Favorites on Delos International. Their disc Bach/Bachianas, also on Delos, received a Grammy nomination in 1988. Their most recent recording, Bach to Brubeck, was released by Naxos in 2005. The ensemble toured Korea in 2005 and appeared at the 2001 Manchester (England) Cello Festival and in 1999 and 2001 at the International Cello Festival in Beauvais, France. More recently, the ensemble performed at Cellofest (Texas Christian University) and the Dallas Museum of Art in 2007. The Yale Cellos will return to Carnegie Hall in 2009 in a tribute to their mentor and director, Aldo Parisot.
