The evening will feature the music of Heitor Villa-Lobos, a close friend of Parisot’s, including the Bachianas Brasileiras No. 1 with soprano Hyunah Yu. Pianist Elizabeth Parisot will join the Yale Cellos for David Popper’s Requiem. The program will also include music by Christopher Rouse, David Popper, Dave Brubeck, and Ezra Laderman.
Aldo Parisot’s accomplishments as a performer, teacher, and advocate for his instrument are extraordinary. In his astonishing career spanning seven decades, he has been a star soloist, renowned chamber player, and perhaps the most beloved cello teacher of his time. He has also played a crucial role in expanding the repertoire for the cello. Join Parisot and his Grammy-nominated ensemble on this festive occasion.
