Musicians studying at the Yale School of Music perform frequently: in recitals, chamber ensembles, opera, and orchestral performances.
All performance students play in chamber ensembles, which perform in Lunchtime Chamber Music, Guitar Chamber Music, the Vista series, and other concerts. Studio-specific ensembles include the Yale Cellos and the Yale Percussion Group.
The Philharmonia Orchestra of Yale performs several times each year. Yale Opera offers three staged productions each year, plus events such as Liederabend (an evening of art song) and public master classes.
Choral groups include the Yale Camerata and Yale Schola Cantorum, both organized by the Institute of Sacred Music, and the Yale Choral Artists, presented by the School of Music and the Yale Glee Club.
Most performances by student ensembles are free and open to the public, and are streamed live online for family and friends around the world to watch in real time.
There are also numerous performing opportunities for Yale undergraduates and students in Yale’s graduate and professional schools.
