The voice program offers two separate tracks: the opera track and the early music track. Both tracks emphasize the oratorio and art song repertoire, and all vocal students sing a recital each year.
The vocal program nurtures the artistry of young singers by developing technique, musicianship, stylistic versatility, and performance skills. Each track offers substantial performance opportunities.
The early music, oratorio, and chamber ensemble track is a joint program of the School of Music and the Institute of Sacred Music.
The Yale community and the great New Haven area offer many solo opportunities with various choral and orchestral ensembles as well as church positions. Students also have the opportunity to teach voice to undergraduates in Yale College and to non-majors in the Yale School of Music.
