Third Annual Yale/New Haven Young Artists Solo Competition to take place May 8

The Music in Schools program is pleased to announce the third annual Yale/New Haven Young Artists Solo Competition. The competition will be held on Saturday, May 8th, 2010, at Yale University’s Sprague Memorial Hall, and will begin at 10am.

Each New Haven K-8 school may choose up to three students to compete. The competition is open to percussion (no piano), strings, brass, and woodwind musicians from the 4th through 8th grades.

The top three prize winners will be awarded an opportunity to play in a New Haven Symphony Orchestra rehearsal. Seven prizes will be awarded: $400, $300, $250, $200, $150, $100, and $50.
