Alumnus Dan Visconti Joins Roster of Fifth House Ensemble

ViscontiComposer and Yale School of Music alumnus Dan Visconti has become the newest member of the Chicago-based Fifth House Ensemble. The collaboration blossomed after Mr. Visconti paired up with the ensemble at the 2013 fresh inc festival.

Mr. Visconti’s work has been internationally recognized by the Rome Prize, the Naumburg Award, the Berlin Prize, and through commissions from the Kronos Quartet, Fromm Foundation, and the Berlin Philharmonic’s Scharoun Ensemble.

According to Mr. Visconti, he will create “homebrewed music and arrangements for a variety of occasions, made exactly to order” for the ensemble and its cross-genre collaborations. He hopes to foster relationships with living composers and to develop compositional activities for use in Fifth House Ensemble’s education and outreach programs in partnership with composer Stacy Garrop.

Mr. Visconti is also pursuing some of his own project ideas with the ensemble that wouldn’t be possible “without such a close, intimate relationship with a group like Fifth House that is so musically curious and full of adventurous spirit.”
