The new Center for Music and Liturgy, part of Saint Thomas More Chapel at Yale, will hold an inaugural choral celebration at Carnegie Hall on June 29 at 7:30 pm. YSM faculty member Richard Gard, the director of the Center for Music and Liturgy, will conduct the combined choirs, along with Stephen Layton.
The concert features 400 voices with orchestra performing sacred works and new liturgical music. Featured choirs include the Choir of Saint Thomas More Chapel at Yale as well as the Tapiola Chamber Choir (Finland), Oslo Chamber Choir (Norway), Sidney-Sussex Choir (Cambridge University), and National Children’s Choir (United States).
The program features the world premiere of the Mass of the Divine Shepherd by Yale alumnus Julian Revie '02 B.S., as well as the U.S. premiere of Ørjan Matre's Halleluja, var strid er endt.
