Brian Vu named Grand Finalist in Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions

Brian Vu ’14 MM, '15 AD has been named a grand finalist in the 2016 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Vu, alongside eight other singers, will compete this Sunday in the Grand Finals Concert. The concert marks the final stage of the Met's annual competition and awards winners a prize of $15,000 as well as valuable exposure in front of some of the premier figures in the opera world. The Grand Finals concert takes place this Sunday, March 13 at 3:00 pm at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.

Currently a first-year Resident Artist at the Pittsburgh Opera, baritone Brian Vu is a graduate of the Yale School of Music and the University of California, Los Angeles. He has participated as a Young Artist at the Glimmerglass Festival, Vocal Fellow in Marilyn Horne’s Music Academy of the West and is a former member of the Wolf Trap Opera Studio.

A 2015–16 Sullivan Foundation Award Winner, Brian is the First Place Southeast Region Winner and a 2016 National Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.  Brian has also received awards from the George London Foundation, Gerda Lissner Competition, Licia Albanese-Puccini Competition, Kurt Weill Foundation and the Opera Buffs of Los Angeles.
