Description

Oboe of boxwood, in three sections comprising upper joint, lower joint, and bell. Six fingerholes, the third and fourth of which are double. Two octagonal brass keys with leather pads. The C key is swallow-tailed. The bell has two vent holes. The baluster of the upper joint is onion-shaped. Conical bore. Bell has internal flange. No decorative rings.

Inscriptions

Stamped on the upper joint: "LEMPP / WIENN / (scroll) / (two five-pointed stars)"; stamped on the lower joint: "LEMPP"; stamped around the maker's stamp: "(three eight-pointed stars)"; stamped on the bell within a scroll: "(crown and faint traces of an eagle) / LEMPP / WIENN".
