In place of this year's Morse Summer Music Academy, we are pleased to introduce MorseOnline.
MorseOnline is a free, interactive music program that is conducted online over the course of four weeks. The program is open to New Haven Public Schools students finishing grades three through 12 who have participated in the Music in Schools Initiative and/or the Morse Summer Music Academy. MorseOnline provides instruction to singers, percussionists, and woodwind, brass, and string players.
Students in the MorseOnline program will engage in wellness activities, take private lessons, participate in studio classes, learn to use recording and editing tools, compose their own music, study different cultures and musical contexts, and understand the fundamentals of music theory.
The 2020 MorseOnline program is scheduled to take place July 6–31. Family members are encouraged to attend morning wellness activities, evening storytelling events, and informal performances.
Students do not need to audition for the MorseOnline program, which is open to those who have attended or applied this year for the Morse Summer Music Academy, participated in the 2019–2020 All-City Ensembles or the 2020 CMEA festivals, or participated in the Music in Schools Initiative’s Friday-afternoon ZOOM lessons program.
MorseOnline is a program of YSM's Music in Schools Initiative, which is supported with a gift from the Yale College Class of 1957.
