We’re excited to celebrate the awards YSM alumni received at the 2026 Grammys on Sunday, February 1.
Pianist and composer John Orfe ’01MM ’02MMA ’09DMA of Alarm Will Sound won in the “Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance” category for Donnacha Dennehy: Land of Winter.
Mike Tierney and Alan Silverman won in the “Best Engineered Album, Classical” category for Sandbox Percussion’s Cerrone: Don’t Look Down — a recording by Jonathan Allen ’13MM ’14AD, Victor Caccese ’13MM, Ian Rosenbaum ’10MM ’11AD, and Terry Sweeney ’15MM, with music by Christopher Cerrone ’09MM ’10MMA ’14DMA.
We also extend congratulations to alumni whose work in large ensembles has been recognized — musicians in the Boston Symphony Orchestra (“Best Orchestral Performance” and “Best Classical Instrumental Solo”), the Houston Grand Opera (“Best Opera Recording”), the Los Angeles Master Chorale (“Best Choral Performance”), and the Los Angeles Philharmonic (“Best Choral Performance”).
