Social Media & Copyright Policy

Introduction

Social media refers to websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking. Popular sites include but are not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, Vimeo, Tumblr, Google+, LinkedIn, Bing, Periscope, Flickr, and Pinterest.

Many musicians and ensembles maintain a social media presence to cultivate a relationship with their audiences, colleagues, and supporters. When well-crafted, a social media presence can be an effective tool for marketing and communication.

Social media pages are permitted for YSM ensembles, departments, and organizations only if they comply with the Social Media Policies set forth in this document.

All YSM-affiliated accounts must be registered and approved by the YSM Communications Office. This will allow the Yale School of Music to oversee YSM’s virtual presence and maintain the professional reputation of the School.
