The trombone program at the Yale School of Music offers diverse opportunities for players to develop their skills and explore interests from early music to new music and chamber ensembles to orchestral training.
Students can explore early repertoire and techniques in the Yale Cornetto and Sackbut Ensemble. On the other side of the spectrum, the New Music New Haven series, in which many students perform, presents contemporary compositions.
Students interested in teaching have opportunities to teach Yale undergraduates and to work with young musicians through the Music in Schools Initiative.
Brass players perform regularly with the Yale Philharmonia. The orchestra plays a wide variety of repertoire and offers frequent opportunities to work with guest conductors.
