Violinist Corin Lee ’13MM joins string quartet ETHEL

lee-corinCorin Lee ’13 MM is the new violinist in the string quartet ETHEL.“I’m so blessed to be joining ETHEL. This is a natural fit for me,” said Lee in an announcement from the quartet. “I am grateful for this opportunity.”

Corin “Cory” Lee is an acoustic, electric, and baroque violinist who incorporates technology into traditional music to push the limits of how music can be performed. He has performed his “musically marvelous” (Steve Reich) electronic arrangements in prestigious venues through the United States including Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium. MORE

Yale Baroque Ensemble duo performs recital at Yale Collection of Musical Instruments May 8th & 9th

YBE_2013-14 The Yale Collection of Musical Instruments presents members of the Yale Baroque Ensemble  in a joint recital on May 8 and 9. Both events begin at 5:30 pm at the Collection (15 Hillhouse Avenue, New Haven).  

Baroque oboist Caroline Ross and baroque violinist Corin Lee, both members of the YBE, will play with harpsichordist Elliot Figg. The program, which will be the same both days, includes music by Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber, Antonio Vivaldi, and George Frederick Handel.  MORE

Yale Baroque Ensemble performs “musique de chambre” Dec. 8

YBE_2013-14The Yale School of Music will present the Yale Baroque Ensemble on Sunday, December 8, 2013. Directed by faculty member Robert Mealy, the ensemble will perform a concert of elaborate and virtuosic music of the French Baroque. The performance begins at 3 pm in Morse Recital Hall, located in Sprague Hall at 470 College Street, New Haven.

The program features Couperin’s great last large-scale chamber work, “L’Imperiale” from Les Nations. Also on the program are brilliant sonatas by Leclair, Barrières, and others.  MORE
