Free Lunchtime Chamber Music concert Dec. 7

The Yale School of Music will present a Lunchtime Chamber Music concert on Wednesday, December 7. The concert takes place at 12:30 pm in Morse Recital Hall (located in Sprague Hall at 470 College St., New Haven).

The Lunchtime Chamber Music series features a colorful variety of ensembles composed of graduate musicians who have come from around the world to study at the Yale School of Music. Violinist Wendy Sharp is director of the chamber music program.

Chamber Music at YSM

The Yale School of Music is unique in that all performance faculty coach chamber music, and all students are involved in chamber music for their entire tenure at the School. Ensembles come together each semester and receive weekly coachings from distinguished faculty and guest artists. Chamber groups often perform in the Lunchtime Chamber Music concerts, which take place at both Morse Recital Hall and the Center for British Art, and in the Vista series, in which performances are enhanced by spoken commentary on the music. Students also take part in the annual chamber music competition, whose winners are featured in an annual concert on the Oneppo Chamber Music Series.

Last Lunchtime Chamber Music concert of the season in Sprague Hall May 4

The Yale School of Music will present the last Lunchtime Chamber Music concert of the season on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 12:30 pm in Morse Recital Hall in Sprague Hall (470 College St., New Haven).

This free event features a colorful variety of ensembles, including excerpts from piano quintets by Brahms and Dvorak, as well as a trio sonata for winds by the baroque composer Jan Dismas Zelenka. The performers are graduate musicians who have come from around the world to study at the Yale School of Music. Violinist Wendy Sharp, a member of the School of Music faculty, is the director of the chamber music program.

Yale’s last Lunchtime Chamber Music concert of the year at Sprague Hall May 5

The Yale School of Music will present a Lunchtime Chamber Music concert on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 12:30 pm in Morse Recital Hall in Sprague Hall (470 College St., New Haven). This free event features a colorful variety of ensembles composed of graduate musicians who have come from around the world to study at the Yale School of Music. The program will include selections from Beethoven’s String Quartet in D major, Op. 18, No. 3; Debussy’s Sonata for Flute, Viola and Harp; Reinecke’s Trio for Piano, Oboe and Horn, Op. 188; John Cage’s Four3; and Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 5, “Spring.”

This will be the School of Music’s last lunchtime chamber music performance of the 2009-10 academic year. Violinist Wendy Sharp is director of the chamber music program.
