About

Yale Opera also undertakes fully-staged productions with piano or chamber accompaniment in Morse Recital Hall. In recent years, these productions have included Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia, Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Hoiby’s The Scarf, and Stravinsky’s Le Rossignol.

The feature of every autumn is the Opera Scenes production, with selections from classic and more rarely-seen operas performed with piano accompaniment.

Yale Opera productions have featured conductors such as Speranza Scappucci, Giuseppe Grazioli, Federico Cortese, Dominique Trottein, and Jeremy Silver. Stage directors Colin Graham, Marc Verzatt, Sam Helfrich, Thor Steingraber, and Vera Calabria have worked on Yale Opera productions.
