It is a privilege to work with Yale undergraduate violinists, many of whom chose Yale College over renowned music conservatories. Students have the unique opportunity to study music at high levels of achievement and intensity, while pursuing their liberal arts degrees. My goal for my students is to have as many career options as possible at the end of their Yale College career. The passion and love for music my students bring to their studies is a source of great inspiration for me.

She performs extensively with Yale faculty pianist Elizabeth Sawyer Parisot, with whom she has recorded sonatas and chamber music. Yu was also concertmaster of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra for 11 years.

At the Yale School of Music, Yu teaches a studio of undergraduate-level violinists and has been featured in performance on the School’s Faculty Artist Series. Previously, she taught at the Aspen Music Festival and School, was an assistant to Dorothy DeLay at The Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division, and served on the Fulbright Scholarship Screening Committee. Yu has also taught violin students at Lehigh University and Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania.

Yu holds bachelor of music and master of music degrees from The Juilliard School and a master of music degree from the Yale School of Music. She has studied with Dorothy DeLay, Paul Kantor, and Emanuel Zetlin.
