Violist Lesley Robertson hails from Edmonton, Alberta and currently lives in California where, along with the St. Lawrence String Quartet she is Artist-in-Residence at Stanford University.

A founding member of the St. Lawrence String Quartet (SLSQ), Lesley has been privileged to perform in some of the world’s most renowned concert halls including Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, New York’s Lincoln Center, and  Paris’ Theatre de la Ville, as well as more unusual venues such as  Hanoi’s The French Opera House, Luxembourg’s Bourglinster Castle and at the White House for President and Mrs. Clinton.

Upcoming tours feature performances in New York, Berlin, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Toronto, Sydney, and Christchurch — and quite possibly a tavern, school cafeteria or university dormitory near you.

Under exclusive contract with EMI Classics, the SLSQ’s recordings have received notable acclaim including Canada's Juno Award, Germany's Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik and two GRAMMY nominations.

Apart from the SLSQ, Robertson has appeared as soloist with the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra and as a guest with the Tokyo String Quartet, the Ying Quartet, the Pacifica String Quartet, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and Music from Marlboro. She has served on the jury of several international competitions including the Banff International String Quartet Competition, the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition and the Concours de Genève. 

Robertson also holds a degrees from The Juilliard School, Curtis Institute of Music, and the University of British Columbia where she studied with Gerald Stanick. She plays on a viola made in August 1995 by fellow Canadian John Newton.

Away from the viola, Robertson gleefully enjoys motherhood, the great outdoors and the antics of her extended family.
