Postcards from Confinement

Expressions of gratitude from the YSM community

Postcards from Confinement is a project designed to further strengthen our community through music. In providing a platform through which students, faculty, and alumni can express themselves, the Yale School of Music aims to share messages of gratitude with those who are confronting the COVID-19 pandemic directly.

The goal of the project is for YSM students, faculty, and alumni to submit a short dedication and musical performance to someone on the front lines in our fight against this merciless disease, or to a friend or loved one who waits in isolation for our collective resolve to bring us to the other side of this moment. The school will edit and deliver each message, or postcard, to the identified recipient.

Such messages offer us a way to reach those who are experiencing anxiety and fear, and those who are facing danger. The school will share these postcards more broadly by uploading them to YouTube, for posterity, once each message has been delivered to its intended recipient.
